This year is the fourth 10-year review of the County Charter. The mayor has appointed an 11-member commission, which is seeking input from county agencies and any interested resident or organization.Â
The commission will hold meetings for the remainder of 2009 and early 2010, after which the proposed amendments will be acted upon by the voters in an election in the year 2010.
The commission regularly meets 1:30 p.m. the second Friday of each month. All meetings are open to the public.
Public testimony may be submitted to the commission secretary, Karen Eoff.

This month’s meeting is 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11 at the Sheraton Keauhou Bay and Spa. Videoconferencing will not be available for this meeting.
There will also be a Public Hearing at 6 p.m. on the same day, in the same location.
The Friday, Oct. 9 meeting is in the County Council Chambers in Hilo.
