Applications available for Kona Community Development Plan Action Committee

MEDIA RELEASE

The County of Hawaii Planning Department is now accepting applications to fill vacancies for the Kona Community Development Plan Action Committee. The Action Committee is a volunteer working committee established to serve as a proactive, community based steward of the plan’s implementation and update.

Action Committee members will be asked to attend monthly meetings, meet with supporting partners, participate in training workshops and or retreats, and help organize and attend public involvement meetings, workshops and or charrettes.

It will also serve as a source for promoting and sharing information about the Kona Community Development Plan to individuals and community groups, and will execute the duties and responsibilities prescribed in Section 16-6 of Ordinance 08-98, which enabled the establishment of Community Development Plan Action Committees for each CDP project area.

Action Committee members should be community-minded and bring a variety of knowledge, attitudes, skills and life experiences to this process. Each Action Committee member must have their primary residence in the area covered by the Kona Community Development Plan.

Applications for the Kona Action Committee will also be available for pickup at the County of Hawaii Planning Department located at 75-5706 Kuakini Highway, Suite 109, Kona or at 101 Pauahi Street, Suite 3, Hilo.
