Free Big Island Film Festival starts today at The Shops at Mauna Lani

FREE FILM FEST FLICKS SHOW UNDER THE STARS AT THE SHOPS AT MAUNA LANI
Big Island Film Festival 2009 Summer Series presents handpicked short and feature films

Kohala Coast, Hawai‘i – The Big Island Film Festival will show a handpicked collection of independent film under the stars on Friday, June 19 and Friday, June 26 at The Shops at Mauna Lani.

Dubbed the “Big Island Film Festival 2009 Summer Series,” the free screenings are a unique partnership between the Big Island Film Festival and the Kohala Coast’s premier shopping destination in an effort to celebrate the independent narrative filmmaker and independent narrative films.

Short and feature films will show on the outdoor jumbo screen at center stage beginning at 7 p.m. both nights. See attached full schedule for specific films and times.

Friday, June 19
7 p.m. – 9 p.m.

1. The Plastic Perils of the Pacific

A charming crab (designed by a 4-year -old girl) stars in this animated film about the dangers posed to animals by
plastic waste in our ocean.

2. On My Way to Pele

A man dreams of flying over Hawaii’s Big Island and discovers Pele in the process. (Filmed on Hawaii Island)

3. Sadie Turns Seven
:10 minutes
On her seventh birthday, a young girl takes daring action.

4. Occupied
:09 minutes
She’s waiting at the airport; the hand-over is successful. All moves have been carefully studied. The goal is clearly

5. A Driving Lesson

Silence is broken on a quiet country road during a driving lesson collision.

6. Home for Good
:10 minutes
Amy Trentham dreams of one thing: her young husband returning home from the war. When that happens, everything will be perfect.
