Pahala Library closed for two months starting June 10

Pahala Public and School Library (Big Island) is scheduled to close beginning Wednesday, June 10 for approximately two months for health, safety, and accessibility improvements, and the installation of a new roof. An announcement will be made when the library is scheduled to reopen.

While the library is closed, the book drop will be locked, and there will be no summer reading programs or passport application service.  Requested items for patrons will be sent to Naalehu Public Library (telephone: 939-2442) for pick up unless other accommodations are made.  Library materials should be returned to Naalehu Public Library or to any other public library that is open.

Starting June 15, Naalehu Public Library will offer temporary extended public service hours until Pahala Public & School Library reopens: Monday and Wednesday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; and Friday, noon – 5 p.m.  Patrons are invited to participate in Naalehu Public Library’s summer reading programs.  To locate other HSPLS libraries that offer passport application service, please visit: http://www.librarieshawaii.org/services/passport1.htm

In addition, patrons may log-on to the HSPLS website: www.librarieshawaii.org from their home or office computer, to browse the HSPLS Catalog for book titles, eBooks, digital audio books, EBSCOhost (features a wide variety of online databases), which provides full-text materials from magazines, newspapers, journals, and other publications.
