The Department of Health confirmed 13 new cases of novel H1N1 Flu on Oahu today bringing the total number of cases in Hawaii to 71. Of these cases five were students. Three are elementary student, one a middle school student and one a high school student. The students were from Iliahi Elementary, Kalani High, Kipapa Elementary, Nanakuli Elementary and Niu Valley Middle schools.
All of the flu cases with students are reported to be mild, campuses have been disinfected and parents have been informed via letters or the school’s website.
As of 5 a.m. HST May 27 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 7,927 confirmed cases in 48 states and 11 deaths.
The World Health Organization reports as of 8 p.m. HST May 26, 48 countries have officially reported 13,398 cases of influenza A(H1N1) infection, including 95 deaths.
