Need some GREEN inspiration? Check out the presentation by Kareen Forissier, legislative aide to Councilman Pete Hoffmann, at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 13 at Keck Lecture Hall in Waimea.
Forissier spent four days at a “Green Cities” conference in Portland, Ore that inspired her to share the information in this informal presentation.
Forissier will review her field trips (“co-gen” wastewater plant, bicycle path array, the Farmer’s Market, and solar installations) as well as her take on the conference panels and workshops, and what is applicable to the Big Island and Hawaii County environment.
Also, on behalf of Hoffmann, Forissier will attend the Local Climate Leadership Summit, hosted by ICLEI (International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives) held May 18-20 in Washington, D.C.
Hawaii County is the 500th member to join ICLEI and, as a member, has committed to making steps towards caring for the environment.
