Selbert Perkins Design to develop brand for KVBID

MEDIA RELEASE

The Kailua Village Business Improvement District board of directors has selected the international brand identity and environmental communications design firm of Selbert Perkins Design to help develop a branded environment for Kailua Village.

“We were impressed with the proposals we received for brand development,” KVBID president Eric von Platen Luder said. “Selbert Perkins Design stood out because of their broad perspective and obvious passion for client collaboration.”

Selbert Perkins Design will be working with KVBID’s board of directors to develop brand strategies to reposition the Kailua Village brand.

History and heritage are core values of the brand and will be priority considerations as the brand is developed. District stakeholder input has already been gathered through focus groups and will be shared in the coming weeks.

“Kailua Village is a national treasure and we are honored to collaborate with KVBID and the community to help renew attention to this valuable historic and natural resource,” says Clifford Selbert, partner of Selbert Perkins Design. “We are excited to have the opportunity to make a positive and sustainable contribution to the health of Kailua Village.”

Brand development meetings in April focused on input from a broad range of community stakeholders. Subsequent meetings which have just been completed summarized research and strategic positioning and sought guidance on initial creative concepts.

The next steps in brand development for Kailua Village will refine creative concepts and launch the design phase.

Selbert Perkins Design has offices in Illinois, California, Maryland, Dubai and Hawaii. The firm’s awards in a variety of disciplines include recognition from the American Center for Design, American Corporate Identity, Communication Arts, Massachusetts Governor’s Design Award and the Society of Environmental Graphic Design.

The mission of the Kailua Village Business Improvement District is to make Kailua Village a model sustainable community that is a better place to invest, work, live and play.

KVBID is working cooperatively to improve and maintain the physical appearance and aesthetics of public right of ways, open space and parks, increase cleanliness and security, and attract long term sustainable business and community activity in Kailua Village.

I wish to gently point out the plural of “right-of-way” is “rights-of-way”, complete with those awful hyphens. It’s similar, I guess, to the other common error, “mother-in-laws” vs “mothers-in-law”.
