Takara’s win in singles helps spark victory

Kona, HI- Today’s 5-4 win was as big as it gets for this year’s Chaminade Women’s Tennis team. With the recent NCAA Regional rankings announcing Grand Canyon as the #8 team in the West Region and Chaminade ranked #9, this match had serious post-season implications.

Chaminade Head Coach Blake Mosley was ecstatic for his team after the hard fought victory. “They pulled it together in singles. We lost two of three doubles matches, but they responded. They battled and got the job done.”

No more evident was this battling than with Chaminade senior Audra Takara. Down 5-0 in the second set, Takara (Mililani, HI/Mililani HS) took seven straight games to take the second set and ultimately win her match.

The win moves Chaminade to 7-8 on the year. Grand Canyon falls to 7-9. The Swords continue tomorrow at the Pac West Conference Championships in Kona, HI and will face BYU-Hawaii at 9AM.
