When two of the top BIIF boys’ volleyball teams played Thursday night the game was certainly worth the price of admission. The visiting Waiakea Warriors played hard and their Kamehameha-Hawaii counterparts rose to the challenge. The first set was close, ending at 25-21 in favor of Kamehameha. The second set was even closer, 25-23, giving Kamehameha a 2-0 set lead. The third set, however, was epic. It took almost 80 points to decide this set, which was captured by Waiakea 39-37. The teams caused the packed gym to jump to its feet numerous times as first one set of Warriors and then the other took the lead. The fans cheered and hollered their support on every nail-biting point. Waiakea was finally able to string two points together to take the set. The fourth and final set was won by Kamehameha, 25-21, as Waiakea fought to stay in the game but came up just a little short. Kamehameha’s Keoni Bailado has 19 kills while Matthew Coghlan has 15. Brady Smith and Clayton Morante led Waiakea.
