Ironman broadcast nominated for sports Emmy

The Ford Ironman World Championship, which aired in December, is among the nominees announced for the 30th Annual Sports Emmy® Awards. emmystatue

Ironman Productions, now with more than 50 nominations and 15 wins, was recognized in the category of “Outstanding Edited Sports Special.”

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences will recognize nominees in 32 categories. 

Other nominated properties in the category of Outstanding Edited Sports Special include: 2008 Beijing Paralympics (NBC), Calzaghe Jones 24/7 (HBO), The Greatest Game Ever Played (ESPN) and Varsity Rivals (CBS/Intersport/NFL Films).

Winners will be announced at an April 27 ceremony at Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York City.

In addition to the leading sports broadcasters, personalities and television professionals who will be in attendance, Dick Ebersol, chairman NBC Universal Sports & Olympics, will receive this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award.  Ebersol is the winner of 24 Sports Emmy® Awards and has received the NATAS Trustees Award.

The 2008 Ford Ironman World Championship will re-air Sunday, July 26 on NBC.  

The 2009 broadcast of the Ford Ironman World Championship will air on NBC on December 19, 2009.
