‘The Vagina Monologues’ benefit at Aloha Theatre

“The Vagina Monologues,” by Eve Ensler, is presented by V-Day Kailua-Kona, a charity event for West Hawaii Child and Family Service.

Shows are 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 24 and Saturday, April 25.

Tickets available through the V-Day Street Team (vdaykona@gmail.com) and online at www.apachawaii.org.

General admission is $15 and no reserved seats.

V-Day is a global movement to stop violence against women and girls by promoting creative events to increase awareness, raise money and

revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations.

V-Day generates broader attention for the fight to stop violence against women and girls, including rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation (FGM) and sexual slavery.

Last year, more than 4,000 V-Day benefits took place around the world raising funds and awareness towards ending violence against women. Since 1998, V-Day and these highly successful events have raised more than $60 million for local beneficiaries working to end violence against women and girls. Kailua-Kona has joined this global movement as part of the V-Day 2009 Campaign.

The show, hosted by Tombomb resident artist BFA actor Tiffany Rose Brown, will be guest directed by award-winning NYU MFA playwright Christopher Oscar Pena and feature activists and actresses from our community to benefit West Hawaii Child and Family Services programs, to help heal and protect the women and children of our island who are survivors of abuse.
