Lots of bills still alive in state Legislature

The Senate introduced 1,690 bills at the beginning of session and that figured now is down to 402 bills.

The Senate Majority Caucus reported that “during a lengthier floor session than is customary,” a total of 338 bills that had yet to pass Third Reading were voted on Wednesday. “There were a few bills that fell away as casualties but most made it through,” according to the report.

On the other side, the House started with 1,843 bills and have passed 327 bills.

The first crossover deadline – for bills or resolutions to move, or crossover, to the other house for consideration – is Thursday, March 12, the second is April 16. The session wraps up May 7.
