Ikebana program at Kailua-Kona Library

MEDIA RELEASE 

Janet Maeda and Ellen Kato of the Kona Hongwanji will be presenting a program at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 14 at the Kailua-Kona Public Library. They will be demonstrating Ikebana, the Japanese art of formal flower arrangement with special regard to balance, harmony and form.

Maeda and Kato will present the Saga Goryu School of Ikebana, the aim of which is to be traditional yet vital and introduce visual and spiritual pleasure into daily life through the skills and techniques of floral decoration and the recognition of the beauty and artistic value of flowers.  Sponsored by Friends of the Libraries, Kona, a non-profit organization, this program is offered as a community service.
