STOMP & GRIND – DANCE & DINE TO BENEFIT 4TH ANNUAL HILO INTER-TRIBAL POWWOW

shawldancerslrgdocDon’t miss this opportunity for an affordable and rollicking good time for the whole family! Show your support for the Fourth Annual Hilo Inter-Tribal PowWow by attending a benefit dance concert on March 7, 2009, at the Connections Public Charter School, located in the Kress Building ,174 Kamehameha Ave in downtown Hilo. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Tickets may be purchased in advance for $10 and include a light supper and an evening of music and dancing. Tickets are available at Connections Public Charter School, Kea’au Natural Foods and CD Wizard.

While feasting on the epicurean delights of Chef McKnight, you can enjoy music by award winning Native American flautist Troy “Good Medicine” De Roche as well as songs by Dave Seawater and Friends, The Lost Chords and Ibis who are all scheduled to play. The evening’s musical fare will range from traditional Native American songs to 1960’s ballads to rock and roll.

chippewadancer-cropAll proceeds will benefit the Fourth Annual Hilo Inter-Tribal PowWow which is scheduled for Memorial Weekend, May 23-25, 2009, at Wailoa River State Park in Hilo, Hawaii. The powwow is a celebration of Native American culture featuring music, dancing, food, arts and crafts, and storytelling in a family friendly, drug and alcohol free environment. Last year’s celebration drew over 20,000 people making it one of the largest free events on the Island of Hawai’i. The powwow is sponsored by the Federation of American Natives in partnership with the Big Island Resource Conservation and Development Council, Inc. Support for the powwow is provided by County of Hawai’i, Hawai’i Tourism Authority, Connections Public Charter School, Angel Pilago, Emily Naeole, and Alii’s of Hawaii Motorcycle Club, Big Island Chapter.
