Hamakua trees on meeting agenda March 10

Councilman Dominic Yagong holds a community meeting focused on the eucalyptus tree plantations along the Hamakua coast on Kamehameha Schools Bishop Estate land. 

The meeting is 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 10 at the Laupahoehoe School cafeteria. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the light refreshments being served.

George Motta of Renewable Resources, LLC, the company that leases the land and owns the trees, and Bill Stormont of American Forest Management, Inc., the company hired to manage the land, will share current plans regarding the eucalyptus plantations, their management of the land, and eventual harvest. 

The speakers will take questions following the presentation.
