UH-Hilo Vulcan pitcher Sarah Weisskopf (14) fires one off the mound against the visiting BYU-Hawaii Seasiders during PacWest Conference action in Hilo. The Vulcans won the first game of the double-header 3-1.

UH-Hilo's Aisha Sueda (18) scores in the bottom of the sixth-inning of action against BYU-Hawaii as catcher Kahealani Alohikea-Betham (3) can't handle the throw home. The run tied the game and Vulcan Tessa Truong (13) also scored on the play for the go-ahead run.

UH-Hilo's Jessica Schatz (20) is caught in a run-down between third and home with BYU-Hawaii's Kimberly Artiaga (33) in pursuit during sixth-inning action. Artiaga tagged Schatz out but the Vulcans scored three runs in the inning for the win.

UH-Hilo's Dana Lee (7) gets a hit against the BYU-Hawaii Seasiders in game one of a doubleheader in action in Hilo.

The University of Hawaii at Hilo split their season opening doubleheader with Brigham Young University-Hawaii in Pacific West Conference softball action on the UHH softball field.

The Vulcans used a late-inning rally to win game one 3-1 while they came up short in a last-at-bat situation to fall 7-8 in the second game.

The teams play a noon non-conference doubleheader on Saturday, February 7 on the UHH softball field.
