Precast retaining walls will be installed by Isemoto Contracting Co., Ltd as part of roadside improvements partially funded by the Federal Highways Administration.

Motorists are asked to use Kilaha Street. Only right turns will be allowed at Kawailani and Komohana streets. Residents on Mauna Iho and Uilani Place will have limited use of Komohana.

Off-duty officers will direct traffic and message boards at strategic locations on Komohana Street and intersecting roads will alert traffic to detour.

Roadside improvements began in late October and scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2009. The majority of improvements along Kinoole were completed last year.

The $5 million project is a Statewide Transportation Improvement Program and federally funded. The Federal Highways Administration pays 80 percent of the improvement cost and the coutny picks up the remaining 20 percent.
