KOC winter tropical gardening series begins Jan. 26

Series cost is $125 members (membership – $35). Individual classes are $30 members / $45 non members. Scholarship is available, so request an application. To reserve space in the KOC Gardening Series, call the KOC office at 329-7286 

Winter Tropical Gardening Series

Jan. 26-Feb. 21

Monday Night Classes – 6:30-9 p.m. at KOC

Saturday Morning Field Trips – 9 a.m. to noon  

Class – Jan. 26: “Growing Tropical Fruit with Love” with Ken Love, President, Hawaii Tropical Fruit Growers and “Planting a Tree” with Diana Duff, KOC Education Director

Saturday Field Trip – Jan. 31: “Landscaping with Edibles & Exotics”  Joan Lamont’s garden and Mark Barville’s garden with Brian Lievens ‘Get Acquainted’ Pot Luck before class 

Class – Feb. 2:  “Lovely Lawns / Turf Talk” with Kirk Eubanks from E-scapes and “Sexual Propagation:  Seeding” with Bree DuPertuis, KOC Assistant Education Director

Saturday Field Trip — Feb. 7: “Orchids & Succulents” nursery tour of Pele’s Island Plants with Phoenicia and Bob Zeller and includes a brown bag lunch party 

Class – Feb. 9:  “Optimizing Your Soil” with Johnathan Deenik, UH Manoa Soil Scientist

Saturday Field Trip – Feb. 14:  “Native Plants” – tour at Aikane Nursery  in Hawi & at Waimea Nature Park followed by brown bag lunch  

Class – Feb. 16:  “Down & Dirty: Gardening Tools & Techniques” with Randall Terawaki

Saturday Field Trip – Feb. 21: “Inspiring Landscape Designs”  informational tour with landscape architect
