Big Island Toyota collecting for Food Basket

Big Island Toyota will accept nonperishable food donations  in Hilo and Kona to help feed the island’s hungry .

From Jan. 26 through Feb. 7, Big Island Toyota will donate 50 cents per pound, up to 6,000 pounds for non-perishable food items, which will be delivered  at 2 p.m. Feb. 11 to KTA Super Stores at Keauhou and handed over to Food Basket.

Residents are urged to help support the Food Basket by donating canned meals, breakfast cereals, saimin, rice and other non-perishable foods. The goal is three tons of food, which equals three Tundra trucks or 6,000 pounds, plus $3,000.
