World Triathlon Corporation acquires seven U.S. based races

World Triathlon Corporation announced Tuesday, Jan. 6 it has acquired the U.S. races assets of North America Sports, including Ford Ironman Coeur d’Alene, Ford Ironman USA Lake Placid, Ford Ironman Wisconsin, Ford Ironman Florida, Ford Ironman Arizona, Ironman 70.3 California and Ironman 70.3 Florida.

“WTC is excited to welcome Graham Fraser and the NAS U.S. operational team, which has a tremendous track record putting on some of the finest Ironman races in the world,” says Ben Fertic, the president of WTC. “We look forward to their long-term contributions to the quality and growth of future Ironman races.”

Fraser will continue to operate Ironman Canada and run the day to day operations of the NA Foundation as well as NAS’ other businesses. The transaction did not include Ironman Canada or other non-U.S. race assets.

“For more than 10 years, my team and I have been offering athletes the highest-quality race experience at some of the most extraordinary Ironman venues in the United States,” Fraser said. “I look forward to helping WTC grow the Ironman brand.”

As part of the acquisition, most of NAS’ U.S. operational employees will join WTC and an additional WTC office will be opened in Boulder, Colo.
