Kona Kaycee, a 4-year-old Golden Retreiver, really does take a flying leap after a tennis ball during a visit Wednesday, Dec. 31 to Kailua Bay. Behind her are the criuse ships Zaandam (left, with a dark blue hull) and the Norwegian Cruise Lines Pride of America. Holland America Line’s second Volendam-class vessel, the Zaandam was launched in 2000. She spent her inaugural season in the Caribbean, but hauled 1,384 passengers to Hawaii from San Diego this week. Another 2,429 passengers cruised Hawaii aboard the Pride of America.

Most of them stopped in at Kahaluu Beach Park.
