QUEEN CREEK, AZ – Hawai‘i Hilo senior forward Jay DeMaestri(Mill Valley, CA/Tam) averaged nearly 30 points per game while unleashing 14 three-pointers over two contests to repeat as the Pacific West Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.

The honor was announced on Monday, Dec. 8, by the PacWest media office in Queen Creek, AZ, for games played from Dec. 1-7.

DeMaestri recorded 28.5 points per game while shooting 60.9% from beyond the arc (14 for 23). He led the league scoring and in three-pointers made per game (7.00) for the week, while he also ranked second in three-point shooting and tied for third in rebounds per game. He pulled down 9.0 boards per contest to go along with a 3.50 assists-per-game average.

PacWest Weekly Top 10 Men’s Basketball Honor Roll

Bryan Ngo – Hawai‘i Hilo (Jr., G, 5-10, 175, San Jose, CA/Santa Clara)…averaged 12.5 points and 6.50 assists per game…tied for 11th in the league in scoring for the week…ranked second in the PacWest in assists per game for the week…averaged 1.50 steals per game…shot 87.5% from the line (7 for 8).

John Smith – Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., G, 6-2, 165, Berkely, CA/Pinole Valley)…averaged 17.5 points per game…ranked sixth in scoring for the week in the PacWest…averaged 5.00 three-pointers per game to rank second…led league in three-point shooting (66.7% – 10 for 15)…ranked ninth in shooting (57.9%)…made 11 of 19 field goal attempts.
