South Kona market extending hours for holiday season

MEDIA RELEASE

The South Kona Green Market, the local mauka market held 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Sundays on the green lawn of the Amy Greenwell Botanical Garden (across from the Manago Hotel in Captain Cook) is extending its hours until 2 p.m. for the holiday season.

Fresh local-grown produce and a variety of local fruits, plants and keiki plants to transplant, herbs, Kona coffee, freshly prepared foods, breads, cakes and other goodies, goat cheeses, fresh-caught fish, locally grown herbs, plus locally crafted items, jewelry, gourds and paintings are available. Also live music.

The market also will host a Winter Solstice Celebration 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21.

The Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year, marks the end of darkness and the beginning of light.  This longer day cycle is cause for cultural celebration uniting communities worldwide.

In addition to picking up last minute gifts, enjoy music and dancing, activities for the kids, silent auction, farm-fresh produce and prepared foods.

This is an admission, alcohol and drug free event. It is sponsored by the Sanctuary of Mana Kea Gardens and hosted by South Kona Green Market.
