Matsumoto named Food & Beverage Director at Sheraton

KEAUHOU — Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort & Spa has announced the appointment of Paul Matsumoto to the position of Director of Food and Beverage for the 521-room Kona coast resort.

Matsumoto joined the resort in June 2008 as part of a Task Force to assist in the food and beverage department. In his new capacity, he will be in charge of the day-to-day operations of Kai restaurant serving breakfast and dinner daily, Manta Ray Bar & Grill serving lunch and beverages daily, the Keauhou Coffee Company, and the Crystal Blue Lounge which offers tapas and beverages nightly. Additionally, room service operations, banquets, catering and special events will be among his responsibilities.

“Paul brings exactly the right skill set at exactly the right time to this important position at Sheraton Keauhou Bay ,” said resort interim general manager Tetsuji Yamasaki. “We look forward to Paul making his mark here as we seek ways to continually improve our customer’s experience.”

Matsumoto was most recently at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel in Waikiki where he was Restaurant Manager for the Surf Room and Mai Tai Bar. Prior to joining Starwood Hotels and Resorts, he was General Manager for Alan Wong’s restaurant, The Pineapple Room. He has held numerous other leadership positions within the industry in Hawaii having begun his career as a line cook.
