In the girls championship match Freshman Gabbie Ewing scored in overtime off a pass from sophomore Nanea Tavares in the 94th minute to wrap up the title for Hawaii Preparatory Academy over Mid-Pacific Sunday (Nov 27).

For the boys championship the Kealakehe Waveriders edged Iolani 1-0 in penalty kicks on the eighth shooter to claim the boys title.

The Hawaii Prep girls beat King Kekauliki 4-2 in Saturday's match at the 40th Anuual Ka Makani Soccer Classic. The Ka Makani girls will meet Mid-Pacific in a championship match at 9:45 a.m. Sunday (Nov 27). All matches are being played at Hawaii Preparatory Academy in Waimea.

In boys action Saturday the Kealakehe Waveriders beat the Honokaa Dragons 3-2. The Waveriders advance to the boys championship game against Iolani at 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

Honokaa boys won their first round match against Mid-Pacific during the 40th Annual Ka Makani Soccer Classic in Waimea Friday (Nov 25). Hawaii Prep and Hilo girls also won their matches. Hawaii Prep, Honokaa and Kealakehe boys won on the first day.

Hawaii Preparatory Academy's 40th annual Ka Makani Soccer Classic starts Friday (Nov 25) at the HPA campus. Last year's champions were Baldwin for the girls and Punahou for the boys. This year Hawaii Prep, Radford, King Kekauliki, Kailua, Lahainaluna, Hilo, Mid-Pacific, Waipahu, Waimea, Kamehameha-Hawaii, Iolani, Honokaa, Kapaa and Kealakehe are playing.

The Kealakehe Waveriders hosted the Leilehua Mules Friday night (Nov 11) in Kona  and suffered a 35-24 loss bringing their season to an end. The third seed Lahainalunas defended their home turf with a 23-6 win against the Wildcats. Lahainaluna will meet second seed Waipahu Friday night on Oahu.

Big Island Police are searching for a 31–year-old woman reported as missing. 

Kelly Malson, a.k.a. Kelly-Ann Tokeshi, has not been seen or heard from in approximately 3 to 4 weeks. 

She is described as Japanese, 5-foot-2, 105 pounds, with a slim build. She has black hair, brown eyes and a light complexion.

Hawaii Prep beats Honokaa in 5th place semifinals, Kona coming home

Hawaii Prep beat the Honokaa Dragons 11-6 in the 2009 Wally Yonamine Foundation Baseball Championships at Hans L’Orange Field on Oahu. The Ka Makani will play Waipahu tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Hans L’Orange Field for the 5th place Division II title in the state tournament. Waipahu beat Konawaena today 8-2 earning them the game against Hawaii Prep.
