Fundraiser for Surf Filmmaker Mike Prickett Wednesday (March 28)

The Eddie Aikau Restaurant in Kings’ Shops, will hold a fundraiser on on Wednesday, March 28, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. for Mike Prickett, the underwater filmmaker who was recently injured in a diving accident. Prickett was working on a film shoot in Tahiti when the accident occurred. Prickett dove 220 feet to save the life of another diver, suffered from severe decompression sickness and was paralyzed from the chest down.

Man dies offshore Anaehoomalu Bay while spearfishing Saturday (March 17)

Fire/rescue responded to an 11:45 a.m. alarm Saturday (March 17) to Anaehoomalu Bay in Waikoloa for a missing swimmer.

Crews arrived to find a 10 year-old boy on the beach who was out spearfishing with his father. The boy had come back to shore due to dive mask problems and noticed that his father had not surfaced after watching him swimming about 100 yards offshore.

Firefighters return to scene of Christmas Day fire after flare-up Tuesday (Dec 27)

Fire crews responded to a 9:14 p.m. alarm Tuesday (Dec 27) and returned to the scene of a Christmas Day structure fire in Waikoloa which flared-up again.

The burnt residence on West Makuahine Street had flames coming from the eaves in the Southwest corner of the home.

Christmas Day fire destroys home and Porsche in Waikoloa

Firefighters responded for a 7:16 p.m. alarm on Sunday (Dec 25) to a structure fire of a single story home at 68-3556 W. Makuahine Street in Waikoloa.

Crews found the home engulfed in flames from the garage facing the street to the lanai on the back of the home including a small brush fire behind the house.
