This is a Civil Defense message at 5:30 a.m. Thursday, August 2, 2018. The Hawaii Fire Department reports the brush fire near Waikoloa continues to burn and has been kept behind the fire break away from Waikoloa Village.

Police are searching for a man wanted on warrants

South Kohala Patrol & The Area II Special Enforcement Unit is actively seeking for Eyan K. Chong, a 29-year-old who frequents the South Kohala Area (Waikoloa & Waimea). He is wanted on multiple outstanding warrants of arrest for probation violations. Chong is 5-feet-9-inches and 150 pounds.

Police arrest Waikoloa man, recover suspected drugs an unregistered pistol and cash

The Area II Special Enforcement Unit (SEU), assisted by the Area II Vice Section and the South Kohala Patrol Division, concluded a month-long narcotics-related and community nuisance-type investigation which stemmed from numerous community complaints of suspected narcotic use and narcotics-related activities occurring in the Waikoloa Village Area.

Fire burns garage in Waikoloa Friday (May 19)

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 3:03 p.m. alarm Friday (May 19) to a structure fire at 68-3588 Makuahine Street in Waikoloa. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and a moderate amount of flames in the garage of a single story home with all residents safe outside the home.

Military convoys between Kawaihae Pier and Pohakuloa during May

Members of the Hawai‘i Army National Guard are scheduled to convoy between Kawaihae Pier and Pohakuloa Training Area (PTA), May 3 and 5-6 to participate in training. Convoys are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. May 3 and 5, and will begin at 8 a.m. and noon May 6, 2017.
