Military convoys to travel from PTA to Kawaihae Saturday (Dec 6)

Oahu-based service members are scheduled to convoy from Pohakuloa Training Area to Kawaihae Harbor, Dec. 6, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Convoys will use the Daniel K. Inouye Highway, Mamalahoa Highway, Waikoloa Road, Queen Kaahumanu and Akoni Pule Corridor. Military police will support the convoys.

Hawaiʻi Island police have arrested a South Kohala man in connection with an altercation that turned violent in Waikoloa on Sunday night (October 12).

Police received an 8:19 p.m. report that a man was assaulting two women in the parking lot of Waikoloa Highlands Center. Responding officers arrived to find the participants had left the scene. A witness reported that the man had a knife.

Hawaiʻi Island Police are searching for a 29-year-old Waikoloa man wanted for violating probation. Kekoa Makana McKeague is described as 6-foot-1, 160 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Both the Women’s and Mixed crews raced together first on the 10 mile course, which ran north from Anaehoomalu Bay then turned and went south to “Lone Palm” Point, and returned into the wind to finish at Anaehoomalu Bay, fronting the Waikoloa Canoe Club.

Military to convoy from Kawaihae to PTA July 15-17, 2014

Oahu-based Marines will convoy from Kawaihae Harbor to Pohakuloa Training Area, July 15-17, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Convoys will use Akoni Pule Corridor, Queen Kaahumanu, Waikoloa Road, Mamalahoa Highway, and the Daniel K. Inouye Highway. Military police will escort the convoys.

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a flood advisory for the Big Island until 1:30 a.m. Sunday (June 1).

At 10:13 p.m. weather radar showed heavy rain near Waikoloa Village. This area of heavy rain was nearly stationary with estimated rainfall rates between one to two inches per hour.

Other locations in the advisory include, but are not limited to, Kawaihae, Puako and Waikoloa Beach Resort.

Partial lane closures on Mamalahoa Hwy April 21 to July 31, 2014

Hawai‘i Electric Light Company announces a partial lane closure along sections of Highway 190 from the Waikoloa Junction (11 mile marker) to Pu‘uanahulu (19 mile marker) starting April 21 and continuing through July 31, 2014. One lane will be closed to traffic from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.
