Water shut-off along Santos Lane Tuesday (Jan 10)

Area affected: All services along Santos Lane from West Puainako Street to West Kahaopea Street, South Hilo, Hawaii

Water will be temporarily turned off in the above-mentioned area on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, between the hours of 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., to relocate a main.

Upon the resumption of water service, the waterlines will be flushed and cleaned, during which time you may notice turbid and or discolored water.

Police arrest Hilo man for harassment and terroristic threatening

Big Island police charged a Hilo man last night (January 5th) in connection with an incident that occurred late yesterday afternoon in Waiākea Uka. 18-year-old Jeremy J. Costa, of Hilo was arrested following a confrontation he had with an off-duty police officer. The incident occurred shortly before 5:00 p.m. at a home under construction located near Costa’s residence.
