The University of Hawaii at Hilo finished 6th at the St. Edward’s Invitational on the Grey Rock Golf Course in Austin, Texas.
The Lady Vulcans turned in a 328 for the final round to finish the two-round tournament at 653. Tarleton State won with tournament with a 606 followed by St. Edward’s in second place at 638. Tied for third place at 650 were Lubbock Christian, Sonoma State and Newman.

Senior infielder Aisha Sueda led the Vulcans to a 5-1 week that featured all six games at home against Cal State Stanislaus. Sueda hit .500 in six starts with a 9-for-18 performance at the plate. She recorded five runs, two doubles, a homer and nine RBI while posting a .778 slugging rate and a .526 on-base mark. She walked once and dropped a sacrifice bunt.

Cloudy skies kept Mauna Kea hidden for most of the day from East Hawaii Thursday (Feb 23). But the summit access road on Mauna Kea was re-opened after the National Weather Service cancelled the storm warnings as ice melted off roadways.

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 7:02 p.m. alarm Sunday (Feb 19) to the UH-Hilo campus for a structure fire.
Firefighters arrived finding a smoke alarm going off in the athletic complex with light smoke near the new gymnasium. Crews found a smoldering fire in an industrial gas dryer located in the Physical Education Building #320. The fire was put out with a fire extinguisher and firehose.
