A temporary one-way traffic pattern will be in effect along a portion of Lanikaula Street from Friday, May 27, through Wednesday, June 15, weather permitting.

Traffic will flow in the mauka, or westerly, direction only on Lanikaula Street, between Kinoʻole Street and Kalili Street between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Hawaiʻi Island police remind motorists that right turns are to be made from the roadway and not from the right shoulder.

Puna District Captain Samuel Jelsma said some motorists wrongly believe it is safer to travel onto the right shoulder before turning, to allow traffic to pass on the left.

Police remind public to not use right shoulder of the road as a right turn lane

On those dates, traffic will flow only in the makai, or easterly, direction on Mohouli Street between Popolo Street and Kinoole Street between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.

The Hawaii Police Department reports that the partial closure of the right turn lane from the Queen Kaahumanu Hwy onto Kealakehe Parkway is now open. The previous closure was due to a traffic accident just south or on the Kailua-Kona town side of this intersection. All lanes are now open.

Military convoys from Kawaihae Harbor to Pohakuloa April 26-30, 2016

Oahu-based service members are scheduled to convoy from Kawaihae Harbor to Pohakuloa Training Area, beginning Tuesday. The scheduled convoy times are from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.-5 a.m., April 26-30. Convoys will use Akoni Pule Corridor, Queen Kaahumanu Highway, Waikoloa Road, Mamalahoa Highway, and the Daniel K. Inouye Highway.

Easter one-way traffic near St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo

In observance of 2016 Easter season activities at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo, a temporary one-way traffic pattern will be in effect on Kapiʻolani Street. Traffic will be allowed to flow only in the Puna—or southeasterly—direction on Kapiʻolani Street, between Waiānuenue Avenue and Haili Street during certain hours.

To accommodate mass walkers at the 19th Annual Hilo Heart & Stroke Walk & Health Fair, there will be a temporary one-way traffic pattern on Banyan Drive.

Traffic will be allowed to flow in the makai, or northeasterly, direction on Banyan Drive between both sides of Lihiwai Street. The one-way traffic pattern will be in effect between the hours of 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 5.
