Search crews spent Sunday (Sept 27) searching for a missing fisherman at the Kaloli Point area of Hawaiian Paradise Park.

A witness saw the fisherman swept off the shoreline cliff by high surf conditions about 2:30 p.m. Saturday. The man was last seen floating in the water about 50 meters offshore.

Search for missing fisherman in Puna comes to an end

The search for a 56-year-old fisherman who fell into the ocean Friday night (June 6) has come to and end without results. Hawaii County Fire Department crews used a helicopter, rescue boat with divers and ground crews to search the shoreline and ocean fronting Malama Flats near MacKenzie State Park Tuesday (June 10).

Searchers find no trace of missing fisherman off Puna coast

Fire department crews spent Monday (June 9) searching for a 56-year-old fisherman, who fell into the ocean off MacKenzie State Park Friday evening, without any results. Crews used a rescue boat, divers, helicopter and ground crews to search up to 1/2 mile offshore along along the shoreline from Pohoiki to Kaimu Beach.
