KTA’s Barry Taniguchi to represent Hawaii in Japan, visit tsunami hit region of Tohoku

Ten Japanese American leaders from across the country will travel to Japan March 3rd-10th to meet with top officials to further develop the U.S.-Japan relationship and establish a meaningful role for Japanese Americans. Barry Taniguchi will represent Hawaii in the 2012 Japanese American Leadership Delegation Program (JALD).

Given to the people in the name of store founders Koichi and Taniyo Taniguchi, these kits are located in strategic places around the WHCC campus, and could one day save the life of a person suffering from cardiac arrest.

Senior fall prevention awareness month

The Hawai‘i State Department of Health’s Injury Prevention Program and the Hawai’i Fall Prevention Consortium, in collaboration with Longs Drugs, The Hawai‘i Optometric Association and KTA Superstores, is sponsoring Senior Fall Prevention Awareness Month during September.

“On average, every five hours in Hawai‘i a senior suffers a fall injury so serious he or she must be hospitalized,” said Director of Health Chiyome Fukino, M.D. “Fall prevention is a major concern for the safety and well-being of our kupuna, the fastest growing segment of our population.”
