The Hilo boys team played to a 3-0 win over Kamehameha-Hawaii in rainy conditions at Kamehameha’s Keaau campus Tuesday (Dec 6).
In the girls game both teams were scoreless during the game.

On November 19 at about 10:38 p.m., South Hilo patrol officers arrested 24-year-old Chase K. Tam of Hilo and 27-year-old Alexander M. Barnett of Keaʻau on multiple counts of forgery after they were identified as allegedly using counterfeit currency for payment at a Hilo gas station.

The Kea‘au Recycling and Transfer Station and Water Spigot Facility is scheduled to close for one day on Tuesday, November 8, 2011, while construction crews continue work near the entrance to the facilities.
The renovation project at the site is nearly complete with an improved reuse facility, a new recessed recycling bin wall, improved traffic flow and landscaping.

Hilo detectives charged a Hilo man Tuesday evening (October 25) in connection with a series of threats made against security staff at the Kamehameha Schools’ Keaʻau campus via an internet social networking website Monday night (October 24).

Saturday (October 22) shortly after 12 am., Puna patrol officers responded to the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision to investigate a report of a woman screaming for assistance. Upon arrival, police discovered the 69-year-old woman with severe head injuries and determined that a man forced his way into her home before assaulting her.

Saturday (October 22) shortly after 2:40 a.m., Puna patrol officers responded to the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision to investigate a report of a victim with a gunshot wound. Upon arrival, police discovered a 36-year-old man with a head wound and determined that he sustained the injury following a brief confrontation involving at least three other local males and a teal colored sedan.

Big Island police are renewing their request for the public’s help in locating a 70-year-old man who was reported missing on June 3, 2009.
Annad Arkangel has no permanent address but was known to frequent the Keaau area. His son in California last heard from by telephone on August 15, 2008.

The Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA) announces the start of the 2011-2012 LifeSmarts Consumer Education Competition in Hawaii. LifeSmarts, the Ultimate Consumer Challenge Varsity Program, is a FREE consumer education competition open to teens in grades 9-12.
