Military convoys scheduled between Kawaihae and PTA, August 11-14, 2017

Oahu-based service members are scheduled to convoy from the Kawaihae Docks to Pohakuloa Training Area (PTA), Aug. 11-14, between 9 a.m. and noon, in support of training. The convoys will be escorted by marked vehicles with rotating amber lights and signs. Motorists are asked to be alert and drive with care around convoy vehicles.

Military convoys between Kawaihae Pier and Pohakuloa during May

Members of the Hawai‘i Army National Guard are scheduled to convoy between Kawaihae Pier and Pohakuloa Training Area (PTA), May 3 and 5-6 to participate in training. Convoys are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. May 3 and 5, and will begin at 8 a.m. and noon May 6, 2017.

Oahu-based service members are scheduled to convoy between Pohakuloa Training Area and Kawaihae Harbor, Aug. 15-17. The scheduled convoy times are from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.-10 p.m. Military police will escort the convoys. Roadways affected include the Daniel K. Inouye Highway, Mamalahoa Highway, Waikoloa Road, Queen Kaahumanu Highway and the Akoni Pule Corridor.

A body found in South Kohala last month has been identified as that of a Pāhoa man who had been reported missing.

On June 25, the body of an unidentified man was found on the side of Kawaihae Road. On June 30, the deceased was identified as 64-year-old Michael John David. David had been reported missing and had last been seen in Kalapana on May 20.
