Big Island police have charged a 42-year-old Kona man with meth trafficking and other offenses, including reckless endangering.
The reckless endangering charge stemmed from an attempted traffic stop January 31 on Aliʻi Drive in Kailua-Kona.

The Hawaiʻi Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying an elderly man found unresponsive on Aliʻi Drive in Kailua-Kona today (February 6) at noon.
Hawaiʻi Fire Department medics responded to Aliʻi Drive just North of Kaleiopapa Street to a report of a man who had collapsed on the side of the road. Bystanders were performing CPR on the man when Fire Department personnel arrived.
Hawaiʻi Police Department officers canvassed the area but were unable to locate anyone who could identify the man, who is estimated to be between 60 and 70 years old. He has white hair and was wearing red shorts, a white shirt, and tennis shoes.

Detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigations Section charged 22-year-old James Kekai Hao of Kailua-Kona with 11 offenses Saturday (January 21) in connection with robberies at businesses in West Hawaiʻi on January 5 and January 12.

1,900 feet of Kamaka‘eha St., from the south entrance of Macy’s@ Makalapua Center to Palani Rd. in North Kona, will close Wednesday, January 18 to February 18, 2012. Motorists are asked to use Makala Blvd. from the Queen Ka‘ahumanu intersection to and from Makalapua Center. The 24- hour road closure is to reconstruct the intersection between Kamaka‘eha Ave. and Palani Rd. (opposite the Fire Station).

An autopsy has determined that 48-year-old Bonifacio Pako Alip III of Kailua-Kona died from a medical condition and not from a one-vehicle crash on Route 11 in South Kona on November 8.
The Big Island’s fatality count for 2011 has been reduced from 23 to 22.

Austin Imholt failed to return to his Kailua-Kona home on 29 October. He is described as 5-foot-7,about 145 pounds, with a fair complexion, blond curly hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing green, red and yellow surf shorts, a white tank top and black slippers. He has a black outlined gothic tattoo on his right forearm and a tattoo with the word “IMHOLT” in old English lettering on his back.

AT&T Wireless has confirmed to Hawaii 24/7 that a large area in Kailua-Kona is without cellphone service. We’ve had a report of service being out since at least 3 p.m. Thursday (Dec 15). AT&T Wireless reports that they were made aware of the outage at 4:05 p.m.

Big Island police have located 38-year-old Ronald Malmberg, who was reported missing. He was found unharmed Thursday (December 15) in South Kona.

Big Island polce are searching for a 39-year-old Pierre Malosi Apisaloma of Kailua-Kona, who is wanted for parole violation.
Apisaloma is also wanted for questioning in connection with a kidnapping, abuse, phone ripping, unlawful imprisonment and criminal property damage investigation.
He is described as 5-foot-10, 190 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.
