Autopsy results released of man who died after arrest

The final results of an autopsy conducted Wednesday (February 5) on the body of 39-year-old Randall Hatori of Kailua-Kona concluded that the cause of death was cardio-respiratory arrest due to the combined effects of high levels of methamphetamine in his blood, an enlarged heart and a physical struggle.

Police are searching for a Kailua-Kona teen reported missing

Hawaiʻi Island police are searching for a 17-year-old Kailua-Kona girl who was reported missing.

Addie Cragg was last seen in Kona on January 8. She is described as 5-foot-5, 140 pounds with blue eyes and long, straight strawberry hair.

Police ask anyone with information on her whereabouts to call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.

Man charged with numerous offenses after shooting firearm in Kailua-Kona

Hawaiʻi Island police have charged a 39-year-old Kailua-Kona man with nine offenses in connection with an incident involving numerous shots being fired in his Kona apartment and at a resort parking lot.

Police charge Kona man with stabbing two people in Kailua-Kona

Hawaiʻi Island police have charged a Kona man with several offenses in connection with a stabbing incident last week in Kailua-Kona.

On Saturday evening (April 5), detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigations Section charged 43-year-old Michael Dalton of Kailua-Kona with kidnapping, first-degree terroristic threatening, harassment and two counts of second-degree assault. His bail was set at $11,250. He was held at the Kona police cellblock until his initial court appearance on Monday (April 7).

Kona’s Jean Hull honored at American Culinary Federation conference

Jean Hull, owner, Hospitality Consulting by Jean, was presented with a President’s Medallion from the American Culinary Federation. President’s Medallions are given to foodservice professionals that have contributed their knowledge and expertise to the advancement of the culinary profession. Hull received the medallion on March 3 during the 2014 ACF Western Regional Conference held in Oakland, March 2-5.

Kailua-Kona eatery is rated top place to eat by Yelp users

Crowdsourcing review website Yelp revealed the top 100 places to eat in the USA according to the user data they’ve received and a little place called Da Poke Shack in Kailua-Kona landed the top spot.

Don’t feel bad Oahu, you landed six of the top spots on the list, Maui grabbed two and Kauai one.

Hawaiʻi Island police are renewing their request for information about a 37-year-old Kailua-Kona man who was reported missing.

Robert Keawe Lopaka Ryder was last contacted on Thanksgiving Day, 2013.

He is described as 5-foot-10, 150 pounds with green eyes and short brown hair.
