Big Island police are searching for a 27-year-old Kaʻū man wanted on three warrants.
Michael J. Kaawa, frequents the South Kona, Hōlualoa and Kailua-Kona areas. He is wanted on a 20,000 warrant of arrest for drug offenses and two $300 bench warrants for failure to appear in court. He is also wanted for questioning in connection with a terroristic threatening and criminal property damage incident.

Big Island police are searching for a 31-year-old Kaʻū man wanted on bench warrants.
Daniel “Duke” Abraham, also known as Daniel “Duke” Abrojina, lives in Miloliʻi and frequents the Hawaiian Ocean View Estates area. He is wanted on three contempt of court warrants totaling $100,000.

Kaʻū patrol officers responded to the reported drowning at 7:15 p.m. A 47-year-old Ocean View man reported that he had been on shore while his friend was scuba diving for fish fronting the lighthouse at South Point. The scuba diver entered the water around 6:45 p.m. About a half-hour later, his friend heard him yelling for help and called 911.

Big Island police are investigating the theft of coffee cherries from trees in the Kaʻū District.
One or more persons entered a property off an old cane haul road above Pāhala sometime between 5:30 p.m. December 9 and 7:30 a.m. December 11. They stripped off between 2,000 and 4,000 pounds of coffee cherries, causing damage to the trees. Estimated damages were between $3,300 and $6,600.

Big Island police have located 45-year-old Rodney Naiole Kahele, who was being sought on seven outstanding warrants.
He was arrested on December 23 in Ocean View and charged with resisting arrest in addition to the warrants.
