Hawaiʻi Island police have identified the female victim of a homicide that occurred on Friday (August 14) in Hilo as 49-year-old Danielle Caron of no permanent address.

Caron was identified through fingerprints but police withheld her name until next of kin could be notified.

A 27-year-old Laupāhoehoe man died Saturday (August 15, 2015) from injuries he received in a two-vehicle collision on Route 19 (Hawaii Belt Road) in the area of the 9-mile-marker.

The man was identified as Daven Dolan of a Laupāhoehoe address.

Responding to a 4:11 a.m. call, South Hilo Patrol officers determined that Dolan was operating a 2006 Lexus four-sedan and traveling north on Route 19 when he crossed the centerline and collided with a 2008 GMC Master delivery truck traveling south.

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 4:10 a.m. alarm Saturday (Aug 15) to Mamalahoa Highway (Hwy 19) about 500 feet south of Old Onomea Road for a head on crash between a car and 'box' truck.

Rescue crews arrived to find two drivers pinned in their vehicles. The car's driver was dead at the scene, crews used the 'jaws of life' to get the truck's male driver out. The truck driver was treated and taken by medics to Hilo Medical Center.

Hawaiʻi Island police are releasing the name of a man whose decomposed body was found June 15 off the road leading to the Hilo airport.

He is identified as 72-year-old Thomas G. Rogers, who had no permanent address but had lived in Hawaiʻi and Oregon.

An autopsy conducted June 16 ruled out foul play and determined that he died of natural causes.

Hawaiʻi Island police are investigating a robbery late Thursday afternoon (August 6) in the area of Keawe Street just south of Mamo Street in Hilo.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., a 33-year-old man reported that two males approached him from the back and began to punch him. The suspects reportedly stole the victim’s wallet and cell phone and attempted to take his backpack. The attackers then fled the area.
