On December 18, 2014 at 3:10 a.m., Kona patrol officers arrested Kelly Marie Brightbill, in Kalaoa, while investigating a suspicious vehicle call. Brightbill was wanted for questioning in connection with the robbery of a convenience store off Kekela Street. She was arrested for suspicion of first degree robbery, an unrelated third degree theft and contempt of court. She is being held in the Kona cellblock while detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigation Section continue the investigation.

Big Island police are investigating a robbery of a convenience store on Kekela Street in Hilo.

Yesterday,(December 16, 2014) South Hilo patrol officers responded to a 1:08 pm call from an employee at the Minit Stop who reported that a lone male suspect entered the establishment claiming that he had a firearm. The male suspect demanded cash and fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash and merchandise. A firearm was not seen during the incident.

Hawaiʻi Island police are renewing their requst for the public’s help in locating possible witnesses to a robbery on November 3. The incident started around 1 a.m. at an apartment on the 1400 block of Kinoʻole Street and ended on Kinoʻole Street north of Kawili Street.

Hawaiʻi Island police are investigating an incident in which a man attempted to steal a parked vehicle in Hilo.

At 9:19 a.m. Wednesday (November 19), South Hilo Patrol officers responded to a call from a witness in the parking lot of Wal-Mart on Makaʻala Street in Hilo. They made contact with a 55-year-old Kurtistown woman, who related that upon returning to her parked pickup truck, she discovered a man inside attempting to steal it.
