A gale warning is in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday (April 29) for the Alenuihaha Channel. The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a high surf advisory for east facing shores of the Big Island until 6 a.m. Thursday (April 23).

Surf is forecast to be in the six to eight foot range along east facing shores of the Big Island.

Coastal areas can expect strong breaking waves, shore breaks and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.

Surf is forecast to be in the 12-16 foot range. A small craft advisory is in effect for all Hawaiian waters until 6 p.m. Saturday (March 14).
