He has been identified as Aaron Kondo.

At 8:30 p.m. Saturday, North Kohala police responded to a report of an unconscious man with a hole in his chest in Kapaʻau.

Over 6,500 HELCO customers lose power after Hawi wind farm trips offline Saturday (Jan 5)

At 7:10 a.m. this morning, Hawi Renewable Development Wind Farm tripped offline, causing power interruptions to approximately 6,542 customers in Pepeekeo, South Point, and various parts of Kona. Additional HELCO generation was started and service to all customers was restored within 3 minutes. The cause of the interruption is still under investigation.

The 29-year-old Hawi man arrested following a confrontation at a fire station has been charged with second-degree assault and first-degree terroristic threatening. Dylan Trumpy remains at the Kona police cellblock in lieu of $4,000 bail pending his initial court appearance.

A power outage affecting the Hawi area of North Kohala is scheduled for Wednesday night, November 30, from 11:00 p.m. to approximately 2:00 a.m. Thursday morning.

HELCO recommends unplugging any sensitive equipment prior to the power interruption. If there are any critical medical needs, other arrangements should be made.
