Flood advisories extended for Hawaii Island Thursday (Sept 13)

At 12:31 p.m., radar and rain gages showed moderate to heavy rainfall continuing across the eastern slopes of the Big Island. Rainfall has also spread into the Ka‘u District as far as Naalehu. The highest rain rates were about one inch per hour. This rainfall is expected to continue into the afternoon.

Flood Advisory issued for Hawaii Island is discontinued Wednesday (April 11)

The National Weather Service has canceled the flood advisory for the Island of Hawaii. Motorists should continue exercise caution and to be aware that heavy showers and runoff are still possible over the entire island. All roads are open at this time.

The National Weather Service reports unstable weather conditions to continue through today and into tonight for Hawaii Island.

Police report all roads are open at this time, but advise that driving conditions are poor because of occasional heavy downpours.

If lightning threatens your area, the safest place to be is indoors.
