Fire/rescue crews responded to a 5:41 p.m. alarm Thursday (Aug 21) to 13-3519 Forest Drive in Nanawale Estates, Puna for a structure fire.

Crews arrived to find a three bedroom, single story home with fire in a burning carport. Crews were able to extinguish the blaze by 6:10 p.m.

Hawaii 24/7 Staff The county helicopter Chopper 1 experienced engine failure Tuesday and made an emergency landing near Pololu Valley on the Hamakua Coast. Fire/rescue units responded to a 4:54 a.m. alarm Sunday (July 23) to 15-2169 Beach Road in Hawaiian Paradise Park for a structure Fire.

Crews arrived to find a 30x40 foot three-story home destroyed by fire. The fire scene was difficult for firefighter to access due to a rock wall around the three acre property, a locked gate and a narrow entrance for access.

Fire units responded to a 1:03 a.m. alarm Friday (July 4) to the Humuula Sheep Station off Mauna Kea Access Road for a fire.

Crews arrived to find Pohakuloa Training Area firefighters on the scene with the fire under control. Two historic wood cabins were destroyed and one quonset hut was 50 percent damaged.

Fire/rescue crews responded to an 11:16 a.m. alarm Saturday (June 14) to a structure fire on Kealapua Street in Kona.

Firefighters arrived to find a large multi level home with about a third of it engulfed in flames spreading to the rear, multiple vehicles out front were on fire with the threat of spreading to the neighboring  properties due to the intense heat.

The search for a 56-year-old fisherman who fell into the ocean Friday night (June 6) has come to and end without results.

Hawaii County Fire Department crews used a helicopter, rescue boat with divers and ground crews to search the shoreline and ocean fronting Malama Flats near MacKenzie State Park Tuesday (June 10).
