Police detectives are investigating a fire at the Waiākea Uka Gym in Hilo.

The fire was reported at approximately 4:30 a.m. Wednesday (December 10). Police and firefighters responded and found the fire concentrated at the northwest corner of the building.

Fire personnel extinguished the flames and estimated the damage to the walls and roof area at $65,000.

The Hawaii Fire Department reports the brush fire in the area of the lava flow front on the Mauka side of Highway 130 between Pahoa and Ainaloa has been contained. Fire Department units and personnel are on scene and working on mopping-up operations.

No homes or property is threatened however smoke conditions may increase downwind or to the North of the fire in the areas of Ainaloa and Hawaiian Paradise Park.

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 5:41 p.m. alarm Thursday (Aug 21) to 13-3519 Forest Drive in Puna for a structure fire.

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 5:41 p.m. alarm Thursday (Aug 21) to 13-3519 Forest Drive in Nanawale Estates, Puna for a structure fire.

Crews arrived to find a three bedroom, single story home with fire in a burning carport. Crews were able to extinguish the blaze by 6:10 p.m.

Fire/rescue units responded to a 4:54 a.m. alarm Sunday (July 23) to 15-2169 Beach Road in Hawaiian Paradise Park for a structure Fire.

Crews arrived to find a 30x40 foot three-story home destroyed by fire. The fire scene was difficult for firefighter to access due to a rock wall around the three acre property, a locked gate and a narrow entrance for access.

Fire units responded to a 1:03 a.m. alarm Friday (July 4) to the Humuula Sheep Station off Mauna Kea Access Road for a fire.

Crews arrived to find Pohakuloa Training Area firefighters on the scene with the fire under control. Two historic wood cabins were destroyed and one quonset hut was 50 percent damaged.
