Fire/rescue crews responded to a 4:47 a.m. alarm Wednesday (Dec 7) for a structure fire on 29th Avenue (Poni Moi Ave) in Hawaiian Paradise Park in Puna.

Crews arrived to find a 30-by-30 foot single story unpermitted wooden home with a metal roof engulfed in flames. Firefighters had the fire under control by 5:02 a.m. and it was declared out at 5:38 a.m.

Fire crews responded to a 9:08 a.m. alarm Thursday (Dec 1) to the Punaluu area of Ka‘u for a brushfire.

Fire crews responded to a 9:08 a.m. alarm Thursday (Dec 1) to the Punaluu area of Ka‘u for a brushfire.

Crews have been working to extinguish the fire. Fire dispatch noted three brushfires occurring within a 17 hour period of November 30-December 1, 2016. The three fires were along the roadside of Kamaoa Road (Naalehu), Kaalaiki Road (Naalehu) and Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) in Punaluu. So far 130 ares of open land have burned.

Firefighters responded to a 9:01 a.m. alarm Wednesday (Nov 2) to Ninole Loop below Sea Mountain Colony One condominiums for a brushfire in Ka‘u.

Crews arrived to find a brushfire about 1.5 acres in size on vacant property containing a mixture of tall grass, brush and trees. The fire was spreading rapidly due to strong north northeast winds.

Firefighters worked to prevent the spread of the fire and extinguished hotspots and had the fire out at 3 p.m. Two crewmembers watched over the site of the fire at night to monitor the area and put out any flareups.

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 4:04 a.m. alarm Wednesday (Oct 26) to Kamaili Road in lower Puna for a structure fire.

Crews arrived to find a 20-by-20 foot structure engulfed in flames.

Firefighters had the blaze under control by 4:45 a.m. and the fire was reported to be out at 5:30 a.m.

There was nobody home during the fire, the structure was destroyed with an estimated loss of $6,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Firefighters responded to a 10:05 a.m. alarm Wednesday (Oct 19) to St. Paul's Road in the Honalo area of Kona for a structure fire.

Crews arrived to find a one room residence engulfed in flames on a coffee farm. The building, about 400 square feet in size, had flames coming out of the roof.

Firefighters had the blaze quickly under control. The fire destroyed the building and contents leaving only the foundation intact.

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 3:35 p.m. alarm Wednesday (Oct 19) to 15-3410 Shell Road in Nanawale Estates for a structure fire.

Crews arrived to find a single-story home engulfed in flames. Firefighters had the blaze under control by 4:10 p.m. and it was reported to be out at 4:30 p.m.

The loss at the home was estimated to be $104,000 with $8,000 saved. There were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
