A fire in the Keaukaha area of Hilo caused the closure of Kalanianaʻole Avenue for several hours Thursday (May 2).
At approximately 8:18 a.m., South Hilo patrol officers responded to a report of a fire on the 1900 block of Kalanianaʻole Avenue. Upon arrival, they found an older single-family dwelling and surrounding shrubbery burning and Fire Department personnel fighting the flames.

Hawaiʻi Island police have arrested a Puna man in connection with a suspicious fire Friday (April 26).
At 10:48 a.m. Friday, patrol officers and Fire Department personnel responded to a structure fire at Alulu Road and Oʻoaʻa Road in Hawaiian Acres. The fire was extinguished, but not before causing extensive damage to the structure. A Fire Department investigator determined that the fire was suspicious.

Firefighters found a single story home with a room addition in the back engulfed in flames. Fire crews were able to have the fire out by 3:55 a.m.

Fire/rescue crews answered a 10:47 a.m. alarm Friday (April 26) for a structure fire located in Hawaiian Acres on Road 6 between Roads C and D.
Crews found a multi-story home engulfed in flames. Crews used water from a catchment tank to extinguish the blaze and had the fire out by 12:13 p.m.

The hiker, a 36-year-old man, was last seen by his father entering the forest area off 11th Avenue off Kaloli Drive at 10 a.m. on Saturday (March 16).

Fire crews arrived to find a three story home engulfed in flames. Crews from Hawaiian Pradise Park, Waiakea, Keaau and Pahoa fire stations battled the blaze and had the fire under control by 4:16 p.m. and it was declared out at 5:45 p.m.
