A 69-year-old Hilo man died Friday (July 15) at an Oahu hospital from injuries he sustained in a motor vehicle-pedestrian collision at the intersection of Kīlauea Avenue and Ohea Street in Hilo on May 25.

The victim was identified as Alexander Ortiz of a Hilo address.

An autopsy performed on the body of a 38-year-old Pāhoa man has ruled out foul play.

On June 16, Clarence George Keliinui Hatori was in custody in the police cellblock when he collapsed and was transported to Hilo Medical Center.

On June 30, Hatori was pronounced dead. An autopsy was ordered to determine the exact cause of death.

A 23-year-old woman died in a single-vehicle traffic crash Saturday evening (July 2) on Puʻuhonua Road in Captain Cook north of Highway 160 and the 3-mile marker.

She has been identified as Jessica E. Uulopa of Captain Cook.

Responding to an 8 p.m. call, police determined that Uulopa was the back-seat passenger in a 2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser that was traveling south on Puʻuhonua Road. The car ran off the west shoulder of the roadway, struck a lava rock wall and overturned, ejecting Uulopa into a lava field.

A 32-year-old Pāhoa woman died Friday (June 17) from injuries she received after being involved in a two-vehicle crash on Route 11 at the 21-mile marker in Glenwood.

The victim was identified as Crystal M. Mercado-Lopez of a Pāhoa address.

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 5:01 p.m. alarm Friday (June 17) for a two vehicle crash near the 21 mile marker of Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) in the Glenwood area.

Crews arrived to find a crash between a Ford F-150 pickup truck and a small compact sedan. Both vehicles had extensive front-end damage.

Hawaiʻi Island police are renewing their request for information about a fatal vehicle-pedestrian crash on March 28 on Route 130 near the Kaloli Drive intersection in Puna.

Skye Kahealeilani Noah, 19, of Pāhoa was walking in the Pāhoa direction on the mauka shoulder of the road when she was struck by a white 2003 Ford Ranger pickup truck traveling in the same direction sometime in the early hours of March 28.

Hawaiʻi Island police are seeking witnesses to a fatal vehicle-pedestrian collision Friday (May 27) at the Keaʻau Transfer Station.

In response to an 11:13 a.m. call Friday, officers determined that 78-year-old Gary S. Ambrose of Keaʻau was facing west at a trash shoot to dump garbage when he was struck by a 1990 Dodge van being operated by 66-year-old Perla Whitehawk-Taylor of Hilo.

An autopsy was conducted Wednesday (April 27) on the body of a man who died Monday (April 25) outside a house in the Hawaiian Ocean View subdivision after police responded to a report of a shooting.

The results of the autopsy are inconclusive pending toxicology results.

Police have identified the 22-year-old Pahoa woman who was killed Saturday (April 9) from injuries she sustained in a one-vehicle crash on Nanawale Boulevard.

The victim was identified as Shyla N. Medeiros-Dutton, of a Pahoa address.

Police also arrested the driver of the vehicle identified as Gary A. Simpkins, 22, of Pahoa.
