Police identify motorcycle rider who died in custody after crash

Hilo man dies in police custody after motorcycle crash

A 63-year-old Hilo man died Sunday morning, (January 6), after being in police custody. Responding to a 3:10 p.m. motorcycle crash Saturday, (January 5), Hilo patrol officers determined that the driver of 2003 Kawasaki motorcycle traveling west on Makaʻala Street rear-ended a Toyota sedan and was thrown from the motorcycle.
