The County of Hawai’i Mass Transit Agency has announced that the Pahoa 3 Route will be reinstated, effective Friday, May 25, 2018. Due to the current volcanic activity, all PAHOA/POHOIKI routes will end at Nanawale Longhouse. There will be NO stops in Pohoiki, Seaview and Leilani Estates.

Senator Mazie K. Hirono announced that the Hawaii Department of Health will receive nearly $200,000 in federal funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to replace two diesel-powered buses on Hawaii Island with lower-emission buses. The new buses, part of Hawaii County’s Hele-On bus service, will reduce toxic pollutants released by diesel exhaust.

The 49-passenger bus is one of five new County buses equipped with reclining seats, AC, individual reading lights, overhead climate control, luggage compartments, wheelchair access, video and audio security surveillance, audio sound system and bicycle racks.
