Kona man arrested after barking dog alerts owner of truck break-in

A Kona man was arrested after a dog alerted its owner that strangers were breaking into his truck. On Sunday (September 21), Kona Patrol officers responded to the old industrial area of Kailua-Kona, where a 39-year-old Kailua-Kona man reported that he was working at his business on Alapa Street when he heard his dog barking.

Man charged for February Pepeekeo break-in

Today at 10:00 a.m. (September 12, 2012) after conferring with prosecutors, Ralph Curtis Riveira, 54, of no permanent address, was charged for one count of first degree unauthorized entry into a dwelling. Bail for Riveira was set at $5,000.00 and he is scheduled to make his initial court appearance this afternoon.

Big Island police are investigating a car break-in during a funeral in Hilo on June 17.

A 70-year-old Kurtistown woman woman reported that she left her purse in her car while she attended a funeral in the Wainaku area between 5 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. When she returned to her car, her purse was missing. The purse contained cash and personal belongings.

Big Island police are investigating multiple cases of unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle in Captain Cook.

Sometime between 11:30 p.m. Monday (May 31) and 8 a.m. Tuesday (June 1), the suspect broke into three cars parked at a home in Captain Cook and stole multiple items, including a credit card.
