Kona’s Hanato-Smith added to UH-Hilo women’s basektball roster

University of Hawaii at Hilo Women’s Basketball Coach David Kaneshiro loaded up on guards for the 2011-12 season with the addition of Jameia McDuffie, Shannon Rousseau, Kirsten Shimizu and Thea Hanato-Smith to his roster.

“We are very excited that they will be a part of our program,” said Kaneshiro. “They are all very skilled guards, smart players, and tough competitors.

“In addition to their on-court success, they are also good students with strong character.”

‘Team Happy’ takes HI-PAL Spring basketball championship

On May 13, the league concluded with two semi-final games and a championship game played at Andrews Gym. The team coming out on top was “Team Happy,” with with players representing Waiākea Intermediate and Kamehameha Schools.

HI-PAL Spring basketball league starts Friday (March 4)

The Hawai’i Isle Police Activities League (HI-PAL) will again hold a boys and girls intermediate school Spring basketball league.

League play will begin Friday, March 4, and end Friday, May 13. Games will be played at Andrews Gym, Honomū Gym and the Hilo Armory.
