Results of 6th annual Jackie Rey’s relay canoe race Saturday (Jan 20)

On Saturday (January 20) paddlers on the first relay leg started outside Keauhou Bay and completed their 6 mile leg at Kamakahonu Beach by Kailua Pier, then the second leg paddlers tagged off them at the beach and paddled the six mile return to the finish line inside Keauhou Bay.

The short course was eight miles from Honaunau into Napoopoo and back to Honaunau, and included the women, juniors, and mixed crews. The keiki junior division was a four mile race from Honaunau, past Moinui point, then back.

Results of the 3rd Annual Miloli’i Long Distance canoe race held Saturday (Aug 27) at Milolii. The women and mixed teams paddled 6.6 miles to “Two Stone” and back to the finish line at Milolii with the men’s crews racing 9.2 miles to Kipahoehoe and return to Milolii.

Results of Keoua’s 30th Calvin Kelekolio Long Distance Race Saturday (Aug 20)

The 30th annual Calvin Kelekolio Long Distance Canoe Races were sponsored by Keoua Canoe Club and held at Honaunau Saturday (Aug 20). All races started and finished at Honaunau. The Juniors raced on a three mile course, Women and Mixed crews on an eight mile course, with the Men paddlers racing for 10 miles.

Due to the high wind and waves, the course was changed to a down winder from Keauhou Bay to the Kona Pier for the first leg and from the Kona Pier to Honokohau Harbor for the second leg. The course was approximately 11 miles total.
