Both the Women’s and Mixed crews raced together first on the 10 mile course, which ran north from Anaehoomalu Bay then turned and went south to “Lone Palm” Point, and returned into the wind to finish at Anaehoomalu Bay, fronting the Waikoloa Canoe Club.

The Hawaiʻi Isle Police Activities League in West Hawaiʻi held its annual Summer Basketball League at the Kekuaokalani gymnasium in Kailua-Kona during the month of July.

The league included teams from Honokaʻa to Kaʻū with more than 200 youths participating from ages 5-14 in goodwill competitions. The 5-10 year olds played on Tuesdays and the 11-14 year olds played on Thursdays.
