Very strong 7.5M earthquake in Papua New Guinea, no Pacific wide tsunami threat

Sea level readings indicate a tsunami was generated. It may have been destructive along coasts near the earthquake epicenter. No tsunami threat exists for other coastal areas in the Pacific although some other areas may experience small sea level changes.

Very strong 7.4M quake in Solomon Islands, no tsunami threat to Hawaii

Sea level readings indicate a tsunami was generated. it may have been destructive along coasts near the earthquake epicenter in the Solomon Islands. For those areas – when no major waves are observed for two hours after the estimated time of arrival or damaging waves have not occurred for at least two hours then local authorities can assume the threat is passed. Danger to boats and coastal structures can continue for several hours due to rapid currents.

Severe 8.2M quake strikes Chile, tsunami advisory cancelled for Hawaii

Tsunami wave heights across the state of Hawaii are now below advisory levels and are continuing to diminish. Based on all available data the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center is now cancelling the tsunami advisory. Smaller sea level changes and strong or unusual currents may persist for several additional hours and appropriate caution should be exercised by boaters and swimmers.

Severe 8.0M earthquake in Santa Cruz Islands area, no tsunami threat to Hawaii

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has evaluated the 8.0 magnitude earthquake and has determined that no tsunami threat exists for Hawaii. Tsunami watch and warnings for the South Pacific have now been cancelled.
