The Hawai’i Police Department reports that Mamalahoa Highway south (Route 11) near 98 mile marker in Captain Cook is now open. This roadway had a one lane closure due to a downed utility pole from an earlier traffic accident.

The Hawaii Police Department reports the temporary road closure of the Mamalahoa Highway south (Route 11) just south of the 98 mile marker in South Kona due to a downed utility pole from an earlier traffic accident. Motorists are advised to avoid this location and or expect delays. Expected closure time will be until about 9 a.m. Wednesday (Dec 7). The Hawai’i Police Department thanks the public for its patience and understanding.
