Postal facilities are closed Monday (Oct 10) for Columbus Day holiday

HONOLULU – Postal facilities in Hawaii will observe the Columbus Day federal holiday on Monday, Oct. 10 by closing its Post Offices and not providing regular mail delivery. Columbus Day is celebrated in Hawaii as Discoverers’ Day.

While letter-type mail will not be delivered, packages will be delivered on selected metropolitan delivery routes on the holiday.

Businesses that will be generating large volumes of mail or packages on Columbus Day are encouraged to contact their local postmasters in advance to make arrangements for the pickup up that mail.

Customers will be able to purchase stamps, weigh and post mail and ship packages on Columbus Day at any of the 16 Self-Service Kiosks located throughout the state. Customers can find the locations of these kiosks by opening up USPS.com, clicking on Quick Tools, clicking on Find USPS Locations, selecting Self-Service Kiosks in the drop-down menu and typing in a relevant ZIP Code. Customers can also call 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777) for information.
